November 3: Walden Floral Design Co. invites all bureau members to an Annual Open House from 3 to 7 pm. The company is getting ready to kick off its tenth year in business. They specialize in wedding and event flowers, and were a "Top Pick" by The Knot in 2008 & 2009, a top pick by WeddingWire.com, and recipient of the 2009 Annual Award for Business Excellence by The Business Ledger.
November 4: D.O.C. Wine Bar at Yorktown Center/The Shops on Butterfield will host an informal tasting, “Blend it Up.” Dive into the World of Cuvee’s and experience great blends from across the continent. 7-9 pm. $20 fee includes all wines being tasted and an assortment of appetizers.
November 6: The Center for History in Wheaton will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Luncheon as part of the Center’s Dignity, Service & Valor oral history project. It will be a time for coming together and sharing artifacts, memorabilia and stories of their recollections both at home and abroad. All veterans, their families and interested volunteers are welcome to attend. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 630-871-6601. A light lunch will be served and a $5 donation is suggested.
November 6: McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage presents Joan Osborne, The Holmes Brothers and Paul Thorn. Best known to audiences for her 1995 hit “(What if God was) One of Us,” folk singer Joan Osborne will be joined by the Holmes Brothers, who mix Saturday night's roadhouse rock with the gospel fervor and harmonies of Sunday's church service, and Paul Thorn, who creates music that speaks of the sacred and the profane. Tickets: $44 adult/42 senior/34 youth.
November 7: Cantigny Park, part of the McCormick Foundation, invites runners and walkers of all ages to enter the Cantigny 5K Run/Walk. The event is held annually in association with Veterans Day (Nov.11). Net proceeds from the race will benefit the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, a transitional living facility in Wheaton that provides assistance to U.S. vets in need, including skills for independent living.
November 7: During Victorian Secrets, to be held from 10 am to noon at Naper Settlement, take a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Martin Mitchell Mansion, then peek into a traveling trunk as beauty and clothing secrets are revealed in the "Victorian Lady" presentation. Tickets are $25 per person ($20 for members). Reservations recommended.
November 8: Meet the artist Sidney Mobell at Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art. One of the most famous jewelry designers of our time, Mobell, is known for making ordinary objects precious and designing for celebrities. He will discuss his creative inspirations and insights into his ambitious career in an hour-long presentation beginning at 2 pm. Regular Museum admission; reservations recommended.

Cantigny Park and the First Division Museum will commemorate Veterans Day with a solemn Luminary Tribute that recalls the honor and sacrifice of those who died in combat while serving our country.
Through November 15: Don’t miss the last chance to see the Coyote Den, the Squirrel Drey, the Spider Web, and the Great Blue Heron Rookery or any other of the 11 mesmerizing Animal Houses at The Morton Arboretum. Built people-sized, these “houses” provide a fascinating window into the lives of animals and how they use trees every day. Great for discovery and exercise! All ages. November 15: Ruffled Feathers Golf Club's Turkey Trot. 9 am Shotgun Start. Limited participation of 60 two-person teams. Entries are first-come first-served. Registration deadline: November 12 at 5:00 pm. Two-person Scramble fee of $80/player includes electric cart with GPS, Greens Fee, prizes & turkey dinner after golf. Prizes include 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams, Longest Drive and Closest to Pin.
November 19: Autumn Arts & Crafts Festival at Odeum Expo Center. Visit the web site and click on the Festival Icon for a printable $1.00 off coupon! This festival presents over 200 arts & crafts exhibitors from all across the country showcasing their handcrafted wares for unique home décor, gifts personalized right at the shows, and holiday furnishings. Voted one of the Top 100 Shows in the country by Sunshine Artist Magazine.
November 27: Build-your-own holiday spirit at the Gingerbread House Workshop, hosted by the Elmhurst Historical Museum. Decorate the house with candies, frosting, pretzels and more. $25 fee includes decorations and one pre-assembled house per group of up to five people. Space is limited, so make your reservations early.
